He just assumed Pidge was tied up in settling in, catching up with her brother, and upset about losing her other tech buddy, Hunk. It also helps that Lance is still convinced he's the forgettable and replaceable guy on the team, so having people just bypass the day he came into existence seems part and parcel of the plan.
