[Pidge barely looks up at the voice, too engrossed in sorting out all the various pieces of tech spread out on her bed while she works on building a laptop up from scratch. She goes through them all one by one, looking at them from all angles before putting each one aside and writing something down in the notebook on her lap.]
Guess so. [Her tone is nonchalant, like she's used to this sort of thing. After all, she bunked up with another student at the garrison, and she's a younger sibling so sharing a room is par for the course.
She looks up after a moment, once she's finished writing something down, and pushes her glasses up her nose.] I'm Pidge.
[Rena finds standing around at the door somewhat awkward which leads her to wander to the other side of the room after she's been acknowledged the first time. Precis used to tinker around with technology like this person and she's aware of how long it may take for them to direct their attention to others.
Pidge manages to finish their task sooner than expected and Rena barely crossed the room before the introduction. She turns, a smile appearing on her features.]
It's nice to meet you, Pidge! I'm Rena. [She sets down her books and sits at the edge of her bunk, glancing at the parts that are scattered on the other's bed.] What are you working on, by the way?
[As Pidge gets a look at Rena, her first thought is that she's Altean because of the shape of her ears. Just like Allura and Coran. But then again she lacks those colored marks under her eyes, so that can't be true. Dimly she thinks that it's too bad; Allura would've been over the moon.
Either way, Pidge can definitely tell that Rena isn't human. Not terribly surprising, but it least tells her that the words "laptop" or "computer" may not mean very much to her. Her attention falls back to the parts in front of her, grabbing a large chip and holding it up a little so Rena could see.]
I'm gonna build a machine that can interface with the Ingress so I can figure out how it works and what's wrong with it. And then we can get around to fixing it. Sending us all back where we belong.
[Rena leans forward, attempting to get a better view of the object in Pidge's hand. While she isn't unfamiliar to computers, she only learned the functions necessary for research during her studies so unfortunately the chip doesn't bring any particular insight to her. The only thing that she can possibly relate the chip to is Precis' robots, but those are an anomaly to her as well.
At any rate, she merely nods as she processes the explanation.]
That's-- a pretty tall order to fulfill.
[Even the engineers on the ship currently couldn't figure it out; this person sure is ambitious.]
[Pidge nods absently, then places the chip down in one of the piles and makes another series of notes in her book. It is a tall order, but Pidge is pretty confident that she can manage it. She's done trickier things, but that was with tech that she was infinitely more familiar with.]
About half a day. It took some time to find these parts, and I still need to figure out what the ones I don't recognize are for.
[action] double oops for both of us tbh o3o;;

How long have you been working on it for?
