[Pidge blinks again, putting her tools down in favor of raising a hand to fiddle with the ends of her hair. It has been getting a bit long. It's as much of an untameable mess as ever, only now it hits right between her shoulder blades. She hadn't given it much thought before, but they'd been away from home for... what, almost a year now? Maybe longer? Of course her hair had started to grow out.]
[He waits for her response, quietly. Gently setting the items down beside her. It's not meant to force Pidge to do anything. Though, honestly, the likelihood of anyone forcing her is... so incredibly small, he probably doesn't need to worry about it.]
[It's an option. One she's deserved to have for a long time.]
It's your call. If you want to keep it growing, then... we'll just ask Allura how she manages hers.
[She tugs idly on the longer strands before tucking them back behind her ear-- And then her attention is recaptured by Shiro's offer. Her eyes snap back to his face, just a little bit wider than usual in surprise.]
Really? I mean- [She gestures vaguely with her hands as she continues.] -I kinda thought about it and I mean it's not like I mind my hair being longer it's just that it'll take a lot more maintenance, and I know Allura's managing hers just fine but it's been a while for me, so I think I should just cut it again. Just to make it easier, you know?
[Rambling again. She can't really help it sometimes.]
[He'll just let her ramble. Waiting patiently. For him, it's not a big deal one way or another. But it might be for her. All the more reason to let her choose. Take her time and decide.]
Really. If you want to keep growing it out? We'll talk to her.
[He nods to the gear on the table.] But hey, if you want to go back? I'll do my best for you.
[Pidge chews on her lip for a second, contemplating the offer. It's a good idea. It's more practical to keep her hair short and out of the way. And she's gotten used to it. The idea of growing it out long again, to start looking like Katie Holt again... It's been so long that it feels strange.
After another moment she looks up at Shiro, then gives him a little smile and a nod.]
I could use the help. I kind of just... hacked at it with scissors last time.
[Pidge grins a little, untangling herself from among the machine parts and tools, and moves quickly to the chair at her desk. She looks back up at Shiro as she plops down into the seat, automatically tucking her legs up under her.]
Should I give you pointers, or do you want creative freedom?

[He steps over to her, unwrapping the packet to reveal a set of scissors. And electric clippers.]
Didn't know how you were feeling about your hair these days. But... hey. Better to have a set on hand, right?
no subject
Huh. I guess I could use a cut.

And if not, I'll help you trim it.
[But it's her choice.]

[Sort of. Maybe. He's still not sure. But the point stands. Solidarity for the two of them.]
[He nods his head at the desk chair. Better there than the bed, right?] C'mon. Let's see what I can do.

Should I give you pointers, or do you want creative freedom?
no subject
[That's all the freedom he wants. Don't give him freedom, please. He picks up the scissors, though, frowning intently at her head.]
no subject
Yeah, that'd be good enough for me.
no subject
If you hate it, you can feel free to hold it against me.
[But he will do his goddamn best to make it look halfway decent.]
no subject
Relax, I won't hate it. I just need it to be out of my way.

[And let the great haircutting begin.]
