And we're all grateful for that. But we'd also like to be able to give something back to you, you know.

[At least in his mind, they are.]

[Fortunately!! There's town. So they can put that conversation on hold while Skarmory lands.]

[The skepticism is oozing off of her, even if Shiro can't see it. Oozing.

She only drops it (for now) because they've arrived, apparently. And Pidge blinks around them as Skarmory settles down.]

Okay, sooo... Where do we start?

[Once they're nice and settled, he swings off the bird, motioning her to wait until Pidge has hopped off too.]

There's a shop down the block. It'll have what we need.

[Probably. Hopefully.]

[Pidge climbs down after Shiro does, wiping at the seat of her pants as she turns to face him again with a slight smirk.]

But will they have a tight black shirt for you to wear?

Oh very funny.

But hopefully not.

[Once they're both off, Skarmory takes off. She'll wait up on the rooftops -- Shiro's not worried about her, that way.]

Unless you want to put a dress on.

[She gives him the cheekiest, toothiest grin possible.] I'm almost mean enough to say that would be worth it.

But no, no dresses for me right now. [Her nose wrinkles ever so slightly while she imagines it.] It'd feel kind of weird after all this time.

We're not doing the tight-shirt route.

[Not of he can help it anyway.]

[He's mostly kidding about the dress thing for her. But...] We could get you a green one. Lots of ribbons.

[Pidge snorts. Well, if that's the way he wants to play it...]

Tight black tank top. Maybe have it cut off right below your pecs for maximum ogling.

... Fine. I see there's no winning with you here.

[Look, he promised he wasn't going to go fancy. So he'll stick with it. Completely bypassing the whole "dress" section of the shop, once they arrive.]

I won't grab a dress if you won't grab a tank top.

[Not yet, Shiro. When she's ready to slip into a dress again, she'll let you know. But not just yet.]

Deal. We'll get you one of those nice suits from the magazines so you'll look like a model.

[That's fair. He was only teasing, not trying to actually push her into anything.]

... no that's okay. Just... decent clothes.

[Pidge smiles up at him. It's cool, Shiro. She's doing the same right back.]

I thought you were planning on turning yourself into eye candy for Matt.

... Eye candy.

You were talking to Lance, weren't you?

[He's pretty sure, at least, Lance was the one who said that out loud. Several times.]

[Pidge blinks at him, still smiling but also still a bit confused.]

It's a pretty common turn of phrase, Shiro.

[But yes, maybe she did hear it one too many times from Lance and now it's sunk into her vernacular.]

He kept saying it when he was fixing my hair.

[Lance really did. Almost to where Shiro was thinking it himself.]

[He absently hands her a stack of green shirts.]

I guess I just don't see it that way.

[That makes her smirk a little, looking through the stack of shirts he's handed her as best she can. Ultimately she's going to have to put them down in order to get better looks at them all.]

Of course you don't. I don't think normal people are meant to think of themselves as being eye candy.

[Oh hey, this top isn't too bad. She holds it out at arm's length to examine it more.]

Is this party the reason you asked him to dye your hair?

I'm sure there are some who do. Somewhere.

[While she looks over what he picked up, he goes looking for something halfway decent. Nothing too fancy. Nothing too flashy or anything. He doesn't want to distract from Matt. Just add to it.]

[He chews his lip for a moment, before he answers.]

Yeah. Partly. After you and Hunk asked about my hair, I... guess I got a little self-conscious.

Lance doesn't count.

[She doesn't consider him a "normal person." Lance is..... Lance.

At that comment though, Pidge looks over with yet another surprised, owlish look.]

What? Why would that make you self-conscious?

I'm counting him.

[Lance is Lance, but he's also important, so there.]

[He doesn't look back at her for a minute, busy with the clothing.]

... I'm not sure. It's irrational, I guess. But... hey, at least all it took was a dye job.

[He is important, but he's definitely his own category, okay.]

Hm. [Pidge isn't entirely sure that she gets it, but as long as Shiro's happy so is she.] I like it, by the way. It feels right for you, somehow.

[Okay, that's fair.]

Sorry. Can't really explain it. [He would if he could, though.] Yeah? Little better than just the white, huh?
