[He just lets her. Honestly, it's too much effort to put up more of a fight at this point.]

[Go get your coffee, Pidge. But he'll be here to make sure you really do go upstairs.]

[pidge_out]

[Yaaaaay.

And off to the kitchen she wanders. Where she will fix herself up a normal pot of coffee.

And will proceed to just stay there, even once she's got it, slowly sipping at it with her eyes closed.]

[He'll give her a minute. You know, before he heads in to start steering her back out again.]

Come on. Back you go.

[pidge_out]

[She'll go more quietly this time.



But she's bringing the whole pot of coffee with her.]

[shiro2hero]

... Pidge you promised me you'd sleep.

[pidge_out]

Mm-hmm.

[But she's still not letting go of her coffee.]

[shiro2hero]

... hold onto it tight for a second.

[Because he's going to just. Pick her up. Princess style. Or, rather, like you'd scoop up your half-asleep child.]

Come on, Pidge, bedtime for Green Paladins.

[pidge_out]

[She'll complain harder about this when she's more awake. For now she's just... kind of blank-faced. Because it's weird, but it makes sense, and she's hardly fazed, just holding the coffee pot in one hand and the mug in the other.

And sipping at it.]

It's morning.

Same thing. You're going back to bed, either way.

[Hey as long as she's not kicking around or struggling and spilling coffee everywhere. As long as she's okay with this.]

[Up the stairs they go.]

[pidge_out]

[Her brow kind of furrows as she drinks some more, blinking hard like she's trying to force the sleep out.]

You're the one supposed to go to bed.

Can't. Gotta go drive a space taxi.

Like a responsible adult.

[Just relax and let your new dad put you to bed, Pidge.]

[pidge_out]

[She makes a face, tongue sticking out and nose wrinkled, like a petulant toddler.]

Blech. You're way too good for work like that.

[shiro2hero]

Hey, don't be like that.

I get to fly every day -- it's not that bad.

[It's actually relaxing, compared to the fate of the universe resting on your every move.]

[pidge_out]

Hmm. [She seems to consider this for a moment, pouring more coffee into her mug.]

Flying's good. Wish Green was here.

[He pauses in climbing the stairs, looking quietly at her for a long count. There's a lot of things on his mind right now. A lot of things he wants to talk to her about, but...]

[How do you even tell someone like family these things? How in the world did Lance do it?]

Yeah. Me too. It'd be nice if they were all here, huh?

[pidge_out]

[She squints at his face, looking at him from the corner of her eye over the rim of her mug. She may still be in the middle of waking up, but she's pretty damn sure that something about that was... off.]

They fly better than any shuttle here.

[shiro2hero]

[No nothing is off, he's fine, this is fine, everything is fine.]

[But they're at the top of the stairs, now, and he's moving to try nudging her door open with an elbow.]

No argument on my end. Still feels good to fly, though. No matter what it is.

[pidge_out]

[The sleepiest alarm bells in the world are ringing in Pidge's head. She's starting to actually look pretty suspicious.]

I guess that's good.

[And then her head kind of tilts to one side and she's squinting again, her glasses falling into place on her nose from where they'd been on top of her head.] ...What's going on?

[shiro2hero]

[Oh heck no, this is not a conversation to have right now. Not until he has a better plan. You can't just drop by the way, the rest of your family disappears on you into her lap like this.]

[But, at least, he can be truthful about part of it.]

When you've had some rest, there's some data I need you to take a look at. But I'm not telling you more until after you sleep. It's on my mind, is all.

[All true. No avoidance in those few sentences.]

[pidge_out]

[She just looks at him for a beat, still suspicious (because what on earth could that mean), but... Well. No use in pressing it while half-asleep.]

...When you get back, then.

[shiro2hero]

Yeah. Okay.

[Setting her down now, nudging her toward her door.] Go get some rest, please.

I'm tired just looking at you.

[pidge_out]

You're tired 'cause you don't sleep.

[But fine, geez. Once she's properly got her feet under her, she will move toward her door.]

And talk when you get back.

And because looking at you makes me feel it more.

[He nudges her with an elbow, again. Expression flickering to something more somber when her back is turned.]
